WhitePages is a privately-held company located in Seattle, WA. Our goal is to make it fantastically simple for everyone to connect with confidence.
Is WhitePages the phone company?
No. WhitePages is not owned by or affiliated with any phone company.
Do you offer phone books?
WhitePages does not print or distribute phone books. To obtain a copy or make changes to your local phone book, you should contact the publisher of the phone book, which is often the local phone company that serves that region.
What's the difference between 411.com and calling 411?
We don't operate a 411 phone service. But 411.com is one of our websites. It's your source for free, online people search. That's different from calling 411, which connects you to a directory assistance operator and generally results in a service fee.
411.com is not affiliated or associated with 411-service or your local phone company in any way.
Where do you get the information for your listings?
We get our information for home and work listings in these three ways:
1. Publicly Available Information Sources
This is what it sounds like: information that's available to the public. It includes addresses, street names, cities, states and ZIP codes. Other examples of publicly available information include published phone directories and information published on the Internet, such as publicly available social network profiles.
2. Third-Party Data Suppliers
Information from third-party data suppliers originates from a variety of sources. It may include publicly available information, such as phone directories, as well as information from other sources. For example, people often provide name, address, phone number, email address and other personal information when filling out forms for contests, sweepstakes, subscriptions or other similar offers. Often, this information can be shared with third parties. Whenever you provide personal information — either online or offline — you should understand how the information will be used and whether it can be shared with third parties.
3. Member-Published Listings
We obtain a portion of our listings from members who add their cell phone number or email address directly to our website. Member-added listings have this logo next to their listing:
If listing information is not on WhitePages, it is either unavailable or has been removed from our websites. You can choose to remove your listing from our site. To learn how to remove a listing, click here.
Where do you get the information for your business search listings?
Our business listing information comes from a broad variety of sources including yellow pages directories and third-party data providers. We partner with Localeze and other data providers to deliver the most comprehensive business search results possible. You can often identify the source of a listing by going to the "Detail View" page. Listings provided by Localeze will say "Additional info provided by Localeze" directly below the map on the "Detail View" page. You may see "Provided by..." to the right of the business name, which tells you the name of the company providing that listing. Additional information is provided by third-party data providers.
How do I remove my listing?
Removing a home or work listing is as easy as adding one.
- Search WhitePages for the listing you want to remove.
- If your search includes multiple results, find and click on your name.
- On the Details page for your listing, scroll down to the bottom of the page. Look for the link that says, "Remove this listing". Click the link and follow the instructions to remove your listing.

We partner with Localeze and other data providers to deliver business search results. To remove a business listing appearing on WhitePages, you will need to contact the source of the listing. You can often identify the source of a business listing by going to the "Detail View" page.
Listings provided by Localeze will display, “Additional info provided by Localeze” directly below the map on the “Detail View” page. To remove a business listing provided by Localeze, visit their Help Center and follow the instructions on their website.
You may see "Provided by…" to the right of the business name, which tells you the name of the company providing that listing. To remove those listings, simply visit their website and follow the instructions for listing removal.
If you are not able to identify the source of the listing, then the information may be provided by other third-party sources. Call us at (800) 336-1327 to remove those listings.
Once the removal is validated, the listing will be removed from WhitePages business search results. Please allow up to 60 days for information to be removed on WhitePages.
How do I send a text message?
To send a text message to a person from their listing, look for the "Send a text" link below their name. Enter your cell number, your name and your message. Then click on the Send button. It's that easy! If you don't see an option to send a text message, that person chose not to be contacted via cell phone.
Is text messaging really free?
Yes. Texting from WhitePages is free if you're a member. We do not charge any messaging fees to you, the sender, or your recipient. BUT, standard text messaging fees or other charges may apply from your wireless service provider. Your recipient may also be charged a small fee from their provider.
How do I stop receiving text messages?
Text the word STOP to 566587 ("LOOKUP").
When you do this, all messaging services through WhitePages will be cancelled, and you will receive a confirmation text message. Your cell phone will be removed from your listing on our website. If that was your only point of contact, then your listing won't appear anymore.
Note: If you have a WhitePages LOOKUP service subscription on your mobile phone ($2.99/month for phone number lookups from your cell phone), that will be cancelled as well. Learn more about our LOOKUP service.
If you want your cell to appear on your listing again, text YES to 566587 and it will be reactivated on our website.
If after following the above steps, your listing still appears on WhitePages, email us.
How do I send an email?
From a person's member listing, click on the "Send email" link below their name. Enter your email address, your name and your message. Then click on the Send button.
If you don't see an option to send an email, that person chose not to be contacted via email. That's one of the choices you have as a WhitePages member.
How do I search for people?
Enter the name of a person you are searching for and their location, if you know it. We return the address, phone number and other identifying information for that person, if available.
Be aware that there is a limit to the number of results for any given search. If too many listings are found, refine your search by providing a full first name, ZIP code or city name.
If no results are found, try entering just a first initial or expanding your search by removing the ZIP code or city name. You can also try an "advanced search" for more options, including "begins with" searching for both first and last name and an option to "include surrounding area". We also offer search suggestions to help get results.
If no results are found, the information simply may be unavailable or has been removed from WhitePages.
How do I search for a business?
Enter the name of the business you are searching for (e.g. "Starbucks" or "Holiday Inn") or a business category (e.g. "plumbers") to find all businesses within a certain category.
When searching, start by using as few search terms as possible. For example, instead of "Starbucks Coffee Co.", just enter "Starbucks". If your search returns too many results, narrow down your search by providing a ZIP code, city name or more specific business name or category. You can also sort results by distance or name.
If no results are found, the information simply may be unavailable or has been removed from WhitePages.
What's a reverse phone search? And how does it work?
This is a WhitePages feature that helps you find a person by their phone number. Say you get a call on your mobile from an unknown number. Enter that 10-digit phone number into reverse search. If available, we return the name, address and other identifying information for that phone number. Results will include home, work, and business search listings.
If no results are found, we return the "type", "carrier" and "location" of the phone number. But sometimes information simply may be unavailable or has been removed from WhitePages.
What's a reverse address search? How can I do one?
This is just like reverse phone search but for addresses. Enter an address. If available, we return the name, phone number and other identifying information for that address. Results will include home, work, and business search listings.
It's best to start your search using as few search terms as possible. Enter the address without the street type (e.g. Street, Road, Rd, Ave, etc) or directional indicators (e.g. NE, SE, W, etc).
There is a limit to the number of results for any given search. If too many listings are found, refine your search by providing an apartment number or adding in the street type and directional indicators. If the search is for a large, multi-unit building, you may need to do a "People Search" to get results.
If no results are found, the information simply may be unavailable or has been removed from WhitePages.
